Perched high on a sandstone cliff overlooking the Severn Valley the Castle Keep is the only remaining part of the original buildings. Leaning at a precarious fifteen degrees angle the remains still show signs of cannonball impacts. These occurred during the Civil War when the castle was under siege by Parliamentary forces. Today the grounds have been turned into leisure gardens. Alongside you will find Castle Walk linking the gardens to the Cliff Railway, offering spectacular views over the “Low Town” and the Severn Valley.
