Did you know that the 2012 London Olympic Games mascot “Wenlock” was named after the Shropshire town of Much Wenlock?
Much Wenlock’s beautiful little museum is located on the High Street opposite the Square. The displays include the story of the links between Dr. William Penny Brookes and the Olympic Games, the history of the town and Priory and the geology of Wenlock Edge.
The Visitor Information Centre is located in the Museum and staff will help you with your enquiries about attractions and events, days out, walking, places to stay and even family history!
There is also a well stocked gift shop selling local publications, guides and memorabilia.
Admission to the museum is FREE but donations are always very welcome.
See the museum website here and Facebook Page here for opening times and more information.
