Dating back to Saxon times, Shrewsbury Castle stands on a hill overlooking the River Severn. It has undergone several transformations during its long history but today houses the spectacular collections of the Soldiers of Shropshire Museum
The Museum is host to a journey through nearly 300 years of British Army Evolution, seen through the eyes, campaigns and sacrifices of Shropshire Soldiers.
The Museum displays the significant collections of the Shropshire regiments between 1755 and 1968 as well as their successor regiments – The Light Infantry & Rifles; and the Royal Yeomanry, (Shropshire Yeomanry) Squadron.
Discover the stories of Shropshire Soldiers in war and peace, at home and abroad, from their formation to the present day.
The castle is also a popular venue for events and civil ceremonies, with the grounds providing a lovely setting for photography.
