    The Romans started mining here and the mine continued until 1955 when underground operations ceased. Located in the beautiful South Shropshire Hills, the surface and underground have been preserved by Shropshire County Council. Ground and underground tours by the Shropshire Mines Trust are available on selected days during the year.
